A simple aromatic hetero cyclic organic compound, Pyridine ( C5H5N), generally finds application as a precursor to agrochemicals and pharmaceutical and is also an important solvent & reagent. This clear, flammable liquid either is colorless or is available as a yellowish liquid base, with a penetrating odor. It generally finds application as the main compound for many biologically important derivatives and is also used as a solvent and also as a waterproofing agent in the manufacturing of various drugs and vitamins.
Some features of Pyridine are as follows:
Tetra Hydro Furan (THF) is a heterocyclic organic compound with the chemical formula (CH2)4O. This colorless, water-miscible organic liquid has low viscosity at standard temperature and pressure. Tetra Hydro Furan is the most useful solvent amongst the range of polar ethers. Extensively used as a precursor to polymers, THF has an odor similar to that of diethyl ether, although it is much less potent anesthetic than its chemical cousin.
Dibutyl ether is a colorless, neutral, readily flammable liquid of low volatility with a characteristic odor. It is insoluble in water, but mixable with most common organic solvents. It should also be protected from heat, light and air because of the danger of peroxide formation. Its chemical formula is C8H18O. It finds application as a solvent for fats, oils, organic acids, natural and synthetic resins, etc.
